RuneScape 3 Scam

From the Dark RuneScape Wiki - follow the rules, or else!

The RuneScape 3 Scam is a scam which involves an autotalker constantly repeating a fake new website that has supposedly a RuneScape 3 Beta version, which doesn't exist.

The victim will then go to the page (which is actually a phishing site) and enter their username and password for the actual RuneScape sending their details straight to the scammer's email which means they then have control of the victim's account and will then change the password.

[edit] Example

Scammer Bot: Go to [www.rs3beta.co m] to test runescape 3 beta!
Victim: Ooooooo cool!
Victim goes to the website and enters his username and password.
His account information is sent to the scammer's e-mail account.
Scammer changes the password and recoveries and the Victim has been hacked.

[edit] How to avoid this

Simply report the scammer for Rule 7 (autotyping), Rule 11 (advertising a site), and/or Rule 3 (attempting to obtain someone's password). If the bot talks for a long enough period of time, you will be able to report them multiple times for all 3 rules.

And if possible, you should also report the phishing/password scamming website to Jagex via a customer support query (in the "other" category) to get it taken down.
