The Pure Essence Scam is a scam that is rarely seen but still tricks people sometimes. It is replaced by Rune essence in the scam. This scam is rarely seen in Free-to-play worlds as F2P's cannot mine Pure essence. An example is seen below.
Example[]
- Buyer: "Buying pure essence 100gp ea"
- Seller offers to trade the buyer, buyer trades.
- The seller puts in 100 pure essence and the buyer puts in 10,000 coins.
- The seller takes it away and puts in 100 normal rune essence.
- The seller and buyer both click accept.
- The buyer is now the victim and reports the seller via Rule 2.
Alternate Way[]
Because of the new Trade Screen, there will be an alternate way to watch out for.
- Buyer: "Buying pure essence 100gp ea"
- Seller offers to trade the buyer, buyer trades.
- The seller puts in 100 pure essence and the buyer puts in 10,000 coins.
- The seller purposely clicks decline and says "Whoops =(" to make it look like an accident.
- The seller now offers 100 rune essence instead of 100 pure essence and the buyer is too overjoyed to notice.
- Both click accept.
- The buyer is now the victim and reports the seller via Rule 2.
