Dragon Medium Helmet Scam

The Dragon Medium Helmet Scam is a scam in which the scammer pretends to be selling a Dragon medium helm, but quickly switches it with an uncut ruby. This scam is against Rule 2 of the Rules of Conduct, and JaGeX will give bans to players reported for using this scam. The scammer will offer a Dragon Medium Helm to a victim, then switch it with an uncut ruby as the victim accepts to scam the victim out of 65,000 coins. This scam is dangerous to careless players because there is a visual similarity between the two items which can trick players who don't look carefully at the trade screen. Due to the January 2, 2008 unbalanced trade removal, this scam is no longer possible for people who can receive under about 60k every 15 minutes

Though the images don't look similar shape-wise, they are very similar color and shade-wise.
To avoid this scam, it is best to closely inspect all trades, which is helped by the trade screen update by Jagex.

- Scammer: Selling d med 65k!
- Victim trades with Scammer. Victim offers 65,000 coins. Scammer offers a Dragon Medium Helm, then quickly takes it out and offers an uncut ruby as Victim accepts. Scammer quickly accepts and logs out.
- Victim reports Scammer for breaking Rule 2.
[edit] Alternate way
Because of the new Trade Screen, there is an alternate way to watch out for.
- Scammer: Selling Dmed 65K!
- Victim offers a trade with the scammer. The victim offers 65,000 coins and the scammer puts in a Dragon med helm.
- The scammer purposely clicks Decline and says "Oops..." to make it look like an accident.
- The scammer now offers another trade, inserting an uncut ruby, and hoping the victim doesn't notice.
- The victim puts in 65,000 coins and both players click accept.
- The victim is now scammed.
- The victim reports scammer for breaching Rule 2.
